I Have Uterine Fibroid Tumors! Now What?

Sis,

I understand what you're feeling! Probably a range of emotions to include confusion, shock, anger, worry, and determination. Know this, you are not alone in your uterine Fibroid journey and there are resources to help you manage this diagnosis.

Yes, you should conduct your own research on uterine fibroids ...BUT sis you are not a doctor so don't let WEBMD get you in freenzy. Find immediate comfort in knowing uterine fibroids are non-cancerous tumors and your days are not limited because of them.

Most likely you became aware because of a hospital visit (which is My Story) or your OBGYN told you during an annual check up. Hmmm, maybe you described your uterine fibroid-like symptoms to a family member and they suggested for you to go to a doctor. Either way, Just Breathe and ask yourself following:

1) How did I get Fibroids? Research suggests that the the onset of Fibroids is unknown but there is a possibility it's because of genetics, diet (to include alcohol), lack of vitamin D, and exposure to plasticizers.

2) Who do I know that has Fibroids? Most likely you know someone especially if you are a black woman because according to NIH research, 80% of black women will get Fibroids by the time they are 50 years old. Im learning about so many women who have fibroids that it's an overflow of support.

3) Do I want to have children? Whether your Fibroids are inside or outside your uterus, it can have an impact on infertility. So the sooner you know this answer the better. Take your time and think it through before making any rash decisions.

4) What are my options? Women have the option to shrink their Fibroids naturally through holistic healing. You can also explore surgery procedures to include a myomectory and hysterectomy.

5)  Does my insurance cover Fibroid care? Affordable healthcare options vary per insurance carrier so you should ask your provider about your plan.

Depending on your current state to include the intensity of pain, size of tumor(s), and quality of life, I will encourage you to try to shrink naturally. It's truly change of habits but you can do this sis! Explore the other post on this site to learn about Fibroids and motivational merch to keep you inspired.

With love,

Shar
